A little history
First founded by Bill and Alison Brogan in 1973 as Bayview Coral Bay, the Brogan family are proud to welcome you to our holiday village, filled with everything you need to enjoy your stay. #holidayinwa day 5! This morning we all went out on a glass bottom boat with #ningaloocoralbayboats. I can even explain how amazing it was, the glass floor was great so Claire could see all the fish. Matt and I both went snorkeling as well and what you see Is just so amazing. If you are heading to coral bay I can’t recommend doing this enough, such an incredible experience.
Hopefully we will get some of the go pro footage from the reef up shortly along with the drone footage. We are just editing them at the moment.
After the boat trip when then drove the 2hr trip to Exmouth. Being here is just the relaxed life you would want to live.
We had an amazing lunch at #frothcraft and then settled into our amazing accommodation which I will show you all tomorrow.

17km North of #14mile is the small town of #coralbay , stayed at the #ningaloocoralbay , van park so we could hook up the aircon, catch up on washing and K could do abit if work. #billysbay , is a #snorkelling, #sanctuary as there’s no fishing in this area, #watertemp is #perfect

We went on a glass bottom boat tour to experience the beautiful south end of the Ningaloo Reef in Coral Bay... so glad we did it! Plenty of info on our tour by boatsningaloocoralbay and the kids got to see the Reef without the ordeal of taking young kids snorkelling.
The 1 hour tour was plenty for us too, for the same reason.. and it was the kids first boat experience!!! They took us out to see the part of the reef that wasn`t dead.
Sadly in March there was poor conditions for the coral spawning and it resulted in a natural fish kill and algae smothering 2km of coral reef, killing the coral in the bay essentially. So if you snorkel just off the beach along Coral Bay at the moment, you will only see brown dead Coral for the most part. The fish are starting to return and eat the algae so new coral can grow with the next spawn. Actually a very rare occurrence and will probably never see it again in our lifetime.

Day eight: Coral Bay. Manta ray tour was amazing, love how graceful manta rays are in the water. Swam with a turtle and saw about 10 reef sharks at a cleaning station. Wow what an awesome day we had yesterday out on a snorkeling tour with the manta rays. We were lucky enough to see about 10 different rays, turtles, reef sharks and of course lots of colourful fish and spectacular coral. A must do, we highly recommend doing this.

Manta Ray experience at Coral Bay, what a perfect day out with Josh, Ash, Fabio and Scott. We saw sting rays, heaps of fish, manta rays, dolphins, turtles, dugongs and a big tiger shark! The crew aboard the Ningaloo were just amazing, they made our day just perfect! A big thanks to Josh for taking so much care to make sure we all had the best views, and to Ash for capturing these great photos. U-oh. We headed off early for our 6-hour drive only to discover we had a very flat tyre. Unfamiliar car. Middle of nowhere 🤯 Thanks to the locals who came to help, big shout out to Martin at ningaloocoralbay who was a legend & got us back behind the wheel in about half an hour. It would have taken us half a day. Coral Bay is beautiful btw 🤿 🏖☀️

Coral Spawn Bay update
With an ideal offshore wind this morning, the Bay is starting to look a lot clearer. Locals have been busy clearing the bay of dead fish and weed.
Whilst the Department of Fisheries are still not recommending that you swim in Bill`s Bay, other areas such as Oyster Bridge, Maud`s Landing and Five Fingers reef are clear and ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
We appreciate the understanding of our guests while we wait for Mother Nature to return the bay to it`s normal pristine beauty.
In the meantime, the sunsets are still sensational, the locals are friendly, the drinks are icy cold and local fare is delicious. We are open and waiting to welcome you!

➡️ The Nursery is a 20min walk from town. Head north from Bill’s Bay to Skeleton Beach- a sign will tell you when you’ve reached the right spot! We recommend shoes for this walk as it can get rocky🦶🏽.
➡️ Pick your time wisely!🗓 Hundreds of sharks will congregate from October- March. We suggest morning to midday on a day with low winds & high tide🌤These conditions give you the best chance of spotting reefies clearly!
➡️ This natural wonder is a protected sanctuary ✅ Sharks play a crucial role in maintaining the ecosystem of our reef. You may safely wade in the shallow waters, but please respect distances between you and our marine life! We think that zero impact is the best way to appreciate the wonders of the Ningaloo! 🦈🦈
